Since the
World Conservation Strategy (WCS) recommended in 1980 that countries undertake
national and sub-national conservation strategies, hundreds of countries and
communities have developed and implemented strategies.
This handbook
combines 14 years of comprehensive strategy experience in Africa, Asia, Latin
America and in a number of OECD countries, gathered by practitioners who have
been involved in past strategies and green plans.
The three
sections of the book are a guide to approaching national strategies, the processes
involved in the strategy cycle itself, and the resources needed to drive the
strategy.
